What English Medium School in Rajsamand has learnt from
COVID19?
• The COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to its unprecedented scale and unique response
strategies, has had a critical impact on children’s education, particularly of these
from marginalised sections. Besides the disruption in the school year, there is a
risk that prolonged out-of-school learning may lead to alienation of children from
school systems and exacerbation of existing inequalities. SSIS is the best school in
Rajsamand.
• Technology in the education sector is still limited to using smart boards and
YouTube lessons or PPTs. Schools had never imagined a situation of this type and
most of the tech training was limited to using the projectors and some tools.
• On the job training to teachers to use Ed-tech is the need of the hour. Strict
implementation checks to be caused for every school within the country.
Government assistance in providing schools with free digital up-gradation can
help the teaching fraternity in the future. While the disruption to education
systems worldwide offers valuable lessons and provides a singular opportunity to
reimagine education, the curriculum, and pedagogy.
• While teachers are struggling to find out digital ways of communicating with their
students, it's clear that we'd like to pay close attention to what we teach. This
epidemic is teaching us that the curriculum must be grounded in students’ cultivating
critical, realities, creative, and resilience, versatile thinking, and empathy in students.
• It is not just the scholars and fogeys, but the teachers who are having to unlearn and
relearn to teach students. Since a standard blackboard method might not work for e-
classes, teachers are learning to adapt to technology also. For making the transition
from school to home teaching, teachers at SSIS are being provided training in various
forms, YouTube videos and master classes for questions related to the schedule,
managing children attending e-classes and many others.
• While we've yet to ascertain whether this may apply to post-COVID-19, it's one among
the few parts where investment has not dried up. What has been made clear through
this crisis is that the importance of disseminating knowledge across companies,
borders, and everyone parts of society. If online learning technology can play a task
here, it's incumbent upon all folks to explore its full potential.
