The cost of having a berth at a marina varies depending on where your
berth is located across the globe. Marina berths, like residences, may be
purchased as a Freehold or Leasehold property. Freehold berths, on the
other hand, are quite rare. In the Caribbean, we have one for sale on our
bookshelf. So we'll talk about the expenses of having a leasehold marina
berth for the rest of this post.
Marina Berths on a Leasehold Basis
Leasehold berths, which are common in marinas around Europe
and a few on the UK's South and East Coasts, Wales, and Inland
Waterways, allow the owner to park their vessel for a certain
period of time.
When you purchase a leasehold berth in certain marinas, you
are purchasing the right to dock inside the marina, where you
will often work with the marina personnel to identify your
perfect berth. You will be purchasing a fixed berth number or
position at other marinas. For instance, pontoon A Berth 44 or
pontoon D72.
