Depending on the product and 
the user's preferences, different 
amounts of hand wash may be 
required for efficient hand 
cleaning. However, as a general 
rule of thumb, it is advised to 
use enough soap to make the 
hands lather well. A dime- to 
quarter-sized amount of liquid 
soap, or roughly the size of a bar 
of soap, should be used in this 
situation.
It is crucial to make sure that the palms, backs, 
spaces between the fingers, and areas under the 
nails are all thoroughly saturated in soap. To give the 
soap a chance to work, rub the hands together for at 
least 20 seconds, or roughly as long as it takes to 
sing "Happy Birthday" twice.
