How to Fight Effects of Pollution on Your
Skin? Here are 6 Ways
The pollution that is present in the air wrecks your skin. The dust clogs your
pores and leave your skin oily and dull. Car emissions including toxic
particles, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide emissions from vehicles
impacts you skin. It gets worse when lead particles from nearby factories
joins in the mix.
This pollution prevents skin hydration by clogging your pores. This causes
your skin to lose its shine and seem dull. Not only that, air pollution and the
toxic particles in air causes hyperpigmentation on our face and even induce
premature aging.
And no one want to look old, do we? Therefore, we need to undertake
proper step both as a precaution and to undo the damage that has been
caused to our skin. Here are 6 ways which you can follow to fight the effects
of pollution on your skins.
Use a Sunscreen
It is advisable that you use a sunscreen every time you go out. You should
wear sunscreen even on a cloudy day. The harmful UV rays of the sun are
always a pain and damages your skin severely. These rays cause premature
aging as well as increases the risk of skin cancer.
Using sunscreen lowers your risk of skin cancer and prevent your skins from
looking dull and aging. All purpose creams with an SPF of at least 30 are
recommended by skin specialist to use on a daily basis. For summers,
sunblock creams of about 50 SPF should be used.
Constant Hydration
Long-term exposure to pollution along with the effects of UVA and UVB sun
rays makes it hard leaves your skin irritable, dehydrated. Your skin is
impacted with perpetual redness due to rosacea and eczema.
Therefore, to keep your skin fresh and hydrated, you need to drink plenty of
water regularly. You can even have Tulsi leaves with water to flush out the
toxins from your skin. Drinking water also energizes your skins and slows
premature aging signs like wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots.
Regular Cleansing
Dust and other toxic particles clog up your skin pores and does not let it
breathe. Scrubbing and cleansing daily helps your recover from the effects of
pollution. Scrubbing thoroughly every day before bed keeps your skin fresh
and well-hydrated and removes the excess oil as well.
You can try out home scrubs by mixing sugar, lemon and honey and use it
twice daily. Olive oil and sugar mixture also works wonders to your dull skin.
Alternatively, if you don’t feel like going through all the hassle, you can try
out the varieties of scrubs that are available in different brands.
Skincare Regime
The harsh effects of pollution can only be done when you take care of your
skin regularly. One should maintain a strict skincare regimen for their skin.
Moisturizing your skin is a must. Moisturizer nourishes you dark and dull
skin.
These can be rectified by regular use of moisturizers which feeds your skin
with essential nutrients and antioxidants. They promote cell-regeneration
and reduces the skin damage. You can use all-purpose creams which will not
only work as a sunscreen but also as a moisturizer.
Bathe it Out
Bathe daily and massage your skin with oil. Gently massage your facial area
in circular movements. Pay special attention to the under eye areas. Using
essential oils during bathing energizes and nourishes your skin. It also
rejuvenates the skin.
Face Packs
Nourish your skin by using face packs. Even if you can’t do it daily, you
should use face packs on weekends to revitalize your skin. You can make a
face pack at home with papaya and scrub it on your face to remove skin
blackness. Papaya is also rich in antioxidants and gives your skin the much
needed glow.
Our Opinion
Exposure to pollution takes a toll on your skin and causes blackness,
wrinkles, aggravated acne and other aging effects. Stay away from harsh
skin products and over exfoliation as they cause more harm than good. If
you pay regular attention to your skin and its care, you may be able to
reverse the effects of pollution and keep your skin healthy and glowing.
