Most of the people bring their own Lord Ganesha idols to their home and serve them for 10 days as a family member. The idols used to be made up of  Clay but now the artists used organic material to build those idols to avoid water and soil pollution. Lord Ganesha Idols --- Page 6 --- The Last day of Ganesh Utsav is called as Ganpati Visarjan. The meaning of visarjan is immersion of those idols into water. The day is celebrated with great pomp and show and the idols are taken in a public procession with music and group chanting to the nearest river or ocean for their immersion.
