The artists start building the models of Lord
Ganesha 2-3 months prior to the festival. Most of the
people bring their own Lord Ganesha idols to their
home and serve them for 10 days as a family
member.
The idols used to be made up of Clay but now the
artists used organic material to build those idols to
avoid water and soil pollution.

The Last day of Ganesh Utsav is called as Ganpati Visarjan. The meaning of visarjan
is immersion of those idols into water. The day is celebrated with great pomp and
show and the idols are taken in a public procession with music and group chanting
to the nearest river or ocean for their immersion.
