states that the front windshield can only have a transparent strip of 
tint on the top four to five inches and at least 70 percent of light 
should be able to penetrate the tint on the front side windows.

tint darkness. In the state of California, there are 
specific laws that govern the percentage of tint 
darkness as well as reflection that a car can have. The

in what is referred to as Visible Light Transmission (VLT) 
percentage. This is simply the amount of light that can 
pass through the glass and tint film.

front windshield as well as the front side windows 
should have a 70 percent VLT.   The tint law of this state 
does not have restriction on how dark the tint on the 
rear and back side windows can be. However, if you tint

mirrors.
