MBA, Masters in Business Administration program is one of the trending higher 
studies options for graduating students and PGDM, Post Graduate Diploma in 
Management is an equivalent degree offered by autonomous institutions and B-
Schools. There seem to be more than 3200 plus options available in India to 
choose from various B-Schools, Colleges, Universities and Institutes. Earlier just 
2 types of MBA programs were there but now there are a variety of options 
available out of which the online MBA program is the most trending one when 
compared with Executive MBA programs. Distance MBA is also an option 
available to take up but the value add is not that great as compared with other 
forms of MBA programs.
One side MBA was growing in popularity in terms of higher studies choices after 
Degree but at the same time specialization options were many to choose from. 
The best part of an MBA degree is the eligibility criteria that fits any graduate 
with min 50% marks.
DURATION OF MBA
It’s a 2 years master degree program which is valid and recognized by the Govt. of India 
and by the private sector companies. Online MBA programs are flexible MBA program and 
being offered in duration of 2 years and above to complete. Executive MBA programs are 1 
year program made for working professional with more than 2 plus years of work 
experience.
MBA degrees are offered by Universities and colleges affiliated to UGC approved University. 
PGDM is awarded from the B-Schools or autonomous Institution which are affiliated to 
AICTE. Both the degrees are recognized in India.
1st year or the 1st semester normally focuses on the core aspects of management and post 
that the student have to opt for specialization or electives in major and minor formats and 
dual specialization options are also available in many institutions. Followed by 
specialization, the students will have to go through an industry internship for practical 
application of the management skills which he/she has acquired.
