Somraj (the moon deity) is claimed to have built a gold temple in Somnath near Gir National Park. It was then rebuilt by Ravana in silver, Krishna in wood, and Bhimdev in stone. On the original seaside location, the current tranquil, symmetrical house was built following traditional designs painted a creamy color and has a small exquisite sculpture.
