VARICOSE VEINS, CAUSES,TREATMENT
What is Varicose / Varicosities?
Varicose veins are enlarged blood vessels that form in
your lower body just below the skin's surface. When
your vein walls are thin and your valves aren't
working properly, blood might back up in your veins.
This is the cause of the blue and purple bumps you
see on your legs, foot, or ankles, when you are
affected by varicose veins.
Types of Varicose Veins?
1.Spider Veins.
2.Saphenous varicose veins.
3.Reticular varicose veins.
1. Spider Veins:
They are smaller in size and can be red or blue in
colour. In addition to being thinner and smaller
than other varicose veins, spider veins generally
spread in a web shape as opposed to a mesh
shape,spider veins can be seen.
2.Saphenous varicose veins:
Which enlarge dramatically above their normal size and
protrude from the skin, are affected by saphenous
varicose veins. The veins have an enormous, rope-like
appearance. The protruding nature of these varicose
veins makes them equally as obvious as those that are
colourless.
3.Reticular varicose veins:
Cover a larger region of the skin and stretch out
like a mesh. Normally, the veins are thicker and
have red, green, or purple colouring. Reticular
veins can be ugly even if they don't necessarily
protrude.
Causes of varicose veins?
Varicose veins are caused by increasing blood
pressure in the veins. The blood flows toward the
heart through one-way valves in the veins. Veins can
become blocked with blood if the valves are
damaged or nonexistent. This causes the veins to
expand. Blood can build up in the veins of the legs
after extended periods of sitting or standing, which
increases the pressure inside the veins. The veins
may enlarge as a result of the increasing pressure.
This can weaken the veins' valves and walls.
How to avoid varicose veins:
Improving the flow of blood and muscle tone might
decrease your chance of getting varicose veins.
●Changing your sitting or standing position
regularly
●Exercising. Eating a high
●Lose weight if you’re overweight
●Don’t wear tight - fitting clothes
●Be sure to put your feet up
