Many people are unaware of how essential water is to their oral health. It is an important part of
the cleaning process when brushing or flossing, and it’s also a key component of saliva production.
The lack of adequate water in your diet can lead to cavities and gum disease, so it’s important to
make sure you consume enough liquids every day.

The mouth is a moist environment, and the cells of our teeth are bathed in saliva that
contains minerals and salts. When we consume food, it’s broken down into smaller
particles by enzymes in our mouths. These particles then dissolve in saliva, which carries
them to the gums where they are swallowed back up again.When we drink water, it also
helps to wash away food particles and bacteria that can cause tooth decay and gum
disease. The finer the particles are broken down, the less likely they are to stick together
in clumps that can form plaque.
The water within our mouths also contains minerals like calcium, magnesium and
potassium that help to keep teeth strong and healthy. This can be important because
many people don’t consume enough of these vital minerals through their diet or through
supplements (which is why it’s important to get enough).
ROLE OF WATER
Water plays a major role in dental health by keeping your teeth healthy and strong so they don’t
break or chip easily. If you don’t get enough water through your diet or if you drink too much soda
and other sugary drinks each day, then dehydration could be causing problems with your teeth over
time! Drinking water is the most important thing you can do to maintain good oral health. Water
helps flush harmful bacteria from your mouth, which decreases your risk of developing cavities and
gum disease.
You should drink between 10 and 12 glasses of water each day, but if you don’t enjoy
drinking plain water then try adding a slice of lemon or cucumber! But still, the best way to
prevent cavities is by brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing daily and
