Sanitation in Indian Railway Premises: A Great cause of Concern
Sanitation is always regarded as a key of development intervention. Sanitation  
generally refers to the provision of facilities for disposal of human urine and faeces.
It deals with maintenance of hygienic conditions through services such as  
collection and disposal of solid and liquid waste. Several deadly diseases because  
of lack of sanitation like diarrhoea, dysentery, typhoid, malaria, filariasis dengue  
and schistosomiasis are the outcome of improper or lack of sanitation.

Indian. Railways cover length and breadth of country through its rails. It has  
1,14,500 km of total track and 7083 stations. It has come up as a fast growing and 
 profit making organization. However it has been striving since many years to  
achieve complete sanitation in railways.

Sanitization steps by the Government
 “In line with Central government’s directive on improving the cleanliness at  
railway stations across India, the Railway Board is taking steps to formulate a  
new guideline on cleanliness.
 We would therefor like to propose the solution for the railway tracks in the 
 platform area of the stations with Epoxy Floorings. As it not only eases  
cleaning activity, but also stands a class apart for its uniform look.
 As commented by one of the senior railway officers “We are looking at bringing  
the cleanliness levels at the stations at par with airports”.
 The requirements of cleanliness at railway stations where a high volume of  
passengers access the stations is a must. It is very difficult to maintain  
cleanliness in the tracks, taking this as a challenge we decided to provide a 
 solution to our client with the right material.
