30-year-old Sunita’s husband Bablu passed away during the second wave of COVID-19, leaving her and three children behind. Bablu was a balloon seller. His death was sudden and cruel for the family that was struggling to get food on their plate during the lockdown. “We spent the money we received from World Vision India on the funeral. With the remaining we bought rations and balloons so that we could start the balloon selling business again,” said Sunita. Today she is able to support her children through this livelihood support from an NGO. Such is the impact you can create when you donate online to NGOs working for the welfare of children and vulnerable poor families.

30-year-old Sunita’s husband Bablu passed away
during the second wave of COVID-19, leaving her and
three children behind. Bablu was a balloon seller. His
death was sudden and cruel for the family that was
struggling to get food on their plate during the

With the support of various people who donate online to World Vision India, many
changes came to Neeraj’s village. The community and families were taught to
educate children and not employed. Parents gradually began sending their children
back to school. Those children who couldn’t afford going back to school were being
sponsored. Today, the awareness in the village against child labour and need to
educate children has spread far and wide.
1.6 Million Girls in India remain out of school as reported by NCPCR (2018), suggests
that 39.4% girls between 15-18 years of age are out of school. Another report states
that 57% girls drop-out upon reaching the 11th grade (UDISE 2020). Distance to
school act as significant roadblock for girls dropping out from school. When you
donate online to support girls continue their studies by gifting them bicycles,
remember you are solving this distance roadblock and helping to educate children for
a brighter future.
46% schools do not have functional WASH facilities – Toilet, Drinking Water and
Handwashing facilities (UDISE 2020). Every rupee you donate online can help us
address this challenge, so more children get chance to access education in a safer,
clean and happy environment.
Babli knows what it feels like to suffer. “When I was in class eight,” she says, “I
wanted to continue my education but my parents said they don’t have money so
they can’t send me back to school. I was extremely depressed during that time.
That’s when I heard about the children’s group conducted by World Vision India.” It
was in the children’s group that Babli’s perspective changed. “Once I started coming
there, I learnt that education is my right and I began to persuade my parents to send
me back to school once again. World Vision also supported me in paying my fees for
school and college.” Today she is a teacher and a strong advocate for girl child
education.
In India, more girls (3.2%) are out of school than boys (2.7) even today in the cohort
of children below 15 years of age (UDISE 2020). With the support that comes when
sponsors donate online, we are able to help drop out children go back to school and
help educate children to get a chance at a brighter future.
As Margaret Mead famous quote states,
“Never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever
has,” we have witnessed that when
committed and like-minded people donate
online and support a cause, ‘Change is
Possible’. Never doubt that when you donate
online, we can together change a child’s life
and help educate children to build a better
and stronger nation.
Join us. Together for children. For change. For life.
