English literature, since ages, has fascinated one and all. It is all 
about studying texts from around the world, written in the 
English Language. Generally, Literature refers to different types 
of text including novels, non-fiction, poetry, and plays, and 
among other forms. English literature means different things in 
different contexts. Literature comes from the Latin word "litera" 
which means "acquainted with letters." At the college or 
graduate level, English literature tends to refer to British or other 
Literature. The era has changed and we study now, literatures 
written in English. It refers to the study of a particular text in 
details, its writer, his theme, style, and genre.

• In my past career of 21 years, I have taught numerous 
students across India who came with a dream and passion 
to become Professors. Those who wanted to qualify IAS

literature, since ages, has fascinated one and all. As an
