High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is an oxygen supply system that is capable of delivering up to 100% humidified and heated oxygen at a flow rate of up to 60 liters per minute. HFNC has been gaining attention as alternative respiratory support for critically ill patients. HFNC is used for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD, however useful for treating hypercapnic respiratory failure and mild to moderate hypoxemic respiratory failure can be done using high flow nasal cannula.
