Before any actual testing of the fire alarm system, the system must be inspected first. The 
inspection involves superficial visual checks like missing or damaged devices, improper fire alarm 
location, some expired product, or the use of the non-rated component. It also includes a review 
of any original drawings and operations manuals that can be obtained. Fire alarm inspection 
software is used frequently which allows less paperwork and an organized database of easily 
accessible records. 
 
Fire Alarm Maintenance - Testing 
 
Once your fire alarms have been visually inspected, now it is time to test the fire safety electronic 
components to make sure that they will activate in case of fire or not. Make sure your building 
residents know that there will be a fire test going on otherwise some confusion may give the cause 
a panic situation.
