India is all about diversity in several ways 

like existence, climate, people, their varied 

cultures, customs and of course, 

costumes. Due to various climate 

conditions and cultural backgrounds, 

individuals different regions are actually 

wearing variations of clothes that are 

acknowledged to be their traditional 

dressing. 


North-India states like Jammu and 

Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and 

Uttaranchal encounters extreme 

cold climate most part of the year, 

that requires proper clothing. In 

Jammu and Kashmir colorful 

Pherans and Shawls are worn by 

women, animal skin which 

maintain their foot warm to deal 

with extreme cold.

North India 

  

Kashmiri Dress 


In Haryana, women placed on short Ghaghras or skirts, Kurtis 

and Chunder or Chunris to complement Haryana Dress. The 

boys placed on Dhoti, Kurta and Pagri. Holding their Lathh, 

they seem typical Haryanvi. Apart from these, the normal 

lehengas and ghagras and lachas may also be worn.

Rajasthan Dress.The western region of Asia includes 

Rajasthan and Gujarat which have hot and dry summers 

and chilly winters. Rajasthan may also be recognized for 

a lavish sense of colors as noticed in their lively and 

radiant costumes. Colorful Ghaghra-Cholis and Odhnis 

that are adorned with explicit gota and zari work.The 

boys wear Dhoti, Potia, Angrakha, Banda, Dhabla, 

Pachewara and Bugatari. In rural regions of Gujarat, the 

boys placed on cotton-made Chorno or shorts that are 

worn as lower and Angarakhu the surface of the clothing. 

worn in fingers. 

Western India

Traditional Bengali women placed on white-colored-saree with 

red border especially during festivals or special occasions. The 

boys placed on dhoti-kurta that's again traditional attire of 

Bengal.  

The conventional costumes of north-east India that contains 

Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Costumes of North 

East IndiaTripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, are far 

totally different from individuals of all India. Women in Assam 

placed on special Assam silk sarees. There are numerous 

tribals in Arunachal Pradesh. The Buddhist Monpas tribal 

women placed on sleeveless chemise plus a jacket in regards 

to this.  

East and North-East India 


Manipuri women wear Innaphi the headscarf, a 

wrap-around referred to as Phanek plus a hard-

stuff skirt referred to as Sarong. 

 In Meghalaya, the Garo tribal women placed on 

an unstitched cloth known as Jainsen plus a 

wrap-around. 

Traditional dress of Mizoram. The Mizo women 

placed on vibrant- colored Puan that seems like 

regular churidaar-kurta.

South-India 

  

The clothing styles of all the states of south-India is almost the identical. The 

conventional costumes for girls in Kerala are white-colored-silk sari with 

broad golden zari border. Men placed on Lungis and shirt or short Kurta.  

Women wear Saris of several color combinations. The design of the sari 

depend upon the way it is draped.
