Examples: Gmail, Salesforce, Dropbox, and Office 
365. 
PaaS (Platform as a Service): 
Definition: PaaS provides a platform allowing users 
to develop, run, and manage applications without 
dealing with the complexities of building and 
maintaining the underlying infrastructure. 
User Role: Developers focus on building and 
deploying applications while the platform takes care 
of the runtime, middleware, and operating system. 
Examples: Heroku, Google App Engine, Microsoft 
Azure App Services. 
IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service): 
Definition: IaaS delivers virtualized computing 
resources over the internet, including virtual 
machines, storage, and networking components. 
User Role: Users have more control over the 
infrastructure, managing virtual machines, storage 
configurations, and networking. They are 
responsible for installing and maintaining the 
operating system, middleware, and applications.
