Spelling mistakes
• Try to avoid spelling mistakes especially in the
case of words with the same pronunciation but
different in meaning, such as “your” and “you’re”
Subject-verb agreement
• Remember to use singular verb with singular
subject and plural verb with plural subject.

▫ Right: Yash goes to school every day.
Missing introductory commas
• After any introductory phrase, word, or clause,
use a comma in order to separate that from the
rest.
▫ Example: In the study, we were unable to find
any conclusion.
Sentence fragments
• A phrase written as sentence but lacking an
element from a sentence as a subject or verb is
called sentence fragment.
▫ Wrong: When he got into the car. he closed the
windows.
▫ Right: When he got into the car, he closed the
windows.
Lack of parallelism
• Parallelism, otherwise called parallel structure, is
accomplished when syntactically comparable segments
or expressions with comparative linguistic structure are
utilized in a sentence.
▫ Incorrect: Rani likes reading, writing, and to paint.
Correct: Rani likes to read, write, and paint.
Wordiness
Instead of confusing others by too much uses of
words try to make it simple and concise.
Adjective/adverb confusion
• Don’t get confused with adjective & adverb.
Adjective is used with a noun or pronoun where
as adverb is used with a verb, an adjective, or an
adverb.
