SAFETY TIPS FOR DRIVING--


 Gears: Use lower gears  during both an uphill and a 
downhill drive. Don’t over-speed in any case, or 
leave the car in a neutral position or shut off the 
engine while coming down the slope. Try to  maintain 
a constant speed at lower gears.

 Stay to your left: This is a common condition that 
one needs to keep in his/her mind while driving on 
mountains. Though the roads are narrow, it doesn’t 
imply that one has to drive in the center lane and 
restrict the path of other drivers. Always stay in your 
lane(mostly left) to avoid any traffic.


 Don’t stop midway to enjoy the scenery: Even if 
you want to enjoy the landscape, you can pull over 
on the escape ramps that are specially built for 
these purposes. Stopping in the midway can lead to 
an unwanted situations/accidents.

 Take Breaks: Never drive on a slope when you are 
tired. Calmness needs to be followed. Sleep 
deprivation only adds to the misery. Take proper 
rest, stay calm and then try to drive the car up or 
down the hill. Frequent breaks will also help you in 
getting refreshed.


 Overtaking: Overtaking in the hilly areas is one of 
the trickiest tasks. Check the front and rear sides 
of your car before overtaking, and start 
overtaking only after giving proper signals 
otherwise it can lead to an unwanted 
situations/accidents..

 Speed Limit: Always remain under the speed 
limit. It will help you in braking instantly, in case 
a vehicle is coming from the other side. The 
zigzag roads leave the driver uninhibited of the 
knowledge as when a car will appear in front of 
him.


 Do Not Drink and Drive- Don’t be reckless and too 
over-confident to drive in hilly areas dead drunk. 
You will surely lose control. It is advisable to avoid 
drinking, before, and while driving.

  Fuel-Always have your tank full of fuel and  keep 
some surplus.In the hilly areas, most of the petrol 
pumps close down at 7 pm. Keep an eye on your 
fuel gauge and don’t bring in trouble because of 
your own negligence. 


 Use fog light-Even if you feel you are overdoing it, 
you still need to be thoughtful enough to keep your 
head-lights on all night.It is more about seeing and 
being seen rather than anything else in hilly araes. 
Of course, during daytime you will not have to face 
this hazard.

 Flashing-Flashing is important during night 
drives in hilly areas because this given an idea 
to the driver of the vehicle on the other side of 
the turn that you are also on the road . It is 
always advisable to flash your lights once or 
twice and honk for a while.

Tools-like knife , torch , wrench , screw driver 
set , key-set , wheel spanner

Tubes-you may not find tubes in hilly areas. It 
is advised to keep 2 tubes in your car for 
emergency.
