This is generally done on a day care basis, where the patient need not stay in the clinic for more than a few 
hours. The patient is given anaesthesia and a needle is inserted through her navel and the abdominal cavity is 
filled with carbon dioxide that inflates the abdominal walls and makes the organs clearly visible.
A laparoscope is inserted through an incision in the navel. A small probe is inserted through another incision 
around the pelvic area that helps the doctor have a better view of the reproductive organs like the fallopian 
tube, uterus, ovaries etc. Often a blue coloured solution is injected to know whether the fallopian tubes are 
open or not.
