Surrey Election 2026: Key Dates and What Voters
Should Know
Surrey's next municipal election takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the same day as
local elections across British Columbia. Voting runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and advance voting
is available on October 7, 10, 14 and 15 at designated locations throughout the city. Eligible
voters will choose one mayor, eight councillors and six school trustees.
The mayoral race features seven candidates: incumbent Brenda Locke of Surrey Connect,
Doug McCallum of the Safe Surrey Coalition, Linda Annis of Surrey First, Mike Starchuk of
Imagine Surrey, Honveer Singh Randhawa of the Conservative Electors Association, Troy
Van Vliet of Surrey Now, and Igal Ammons-II of the New Surrey+ Party. Taxes, public
safety, traffic and housing approvals are among the issues dominating the campaign.
With so many candidates on the ballot, reading each platform closely matters. As part of its
Surrey Election 2026 coverage, SurreySpeak has examined one of the race's most discussed
promises, a proposed $600 residential property-tax cut, so voters can weigh the details for
themselves.
