Rubber collar also known as the cervical collar or the neck brace is a collar that is used for
supporting the neck and spine post injury. This collar is also used for several types of spinal
ailments. Rubber collar helps in supporting the neck and prevents it from moving.  That
ways this helps in faster and better healing. 
Types of Rubber Collar
There are several types of Rubber collar available. Specific variants of rubber collars are
used for specific medical issues. The major types of these collars are as follows: 
 Soft colors: The soft collar, that is made up of foam rubber, polyethylene and at times,
inflatable cuff, is used in instances where side movement of the neck and head needs to
be restricted.  This  kind of  collar  fits  in  snuggly  around the neck and facilitates  the
forward and backward movement of the head but restricts the sideways movements. 
 Rigid collars: These collars contain a plastic shell encapsulating a vinyl core. This type
of collar is used in instances wherein the movement of the neck needs to be restricted
to the maximum. These collars are used in instances of injuries resulting from severe
trauma wherein even the slightest movement of the neck can jeopardize the process of
healing. 
 Sports collar: These collars are used in high speed driving sports. Therefore, all car
race drivers, motor cross drivers and ATV drivers wear this collar while participating in
the driving events. Any kind of collision during a race can result in very serious injuries.
In such instances, these collars act as shields. 
Why Are Neck Collars Required?
