Why is SharePoint a superior platform then Google drive?
Description: SharePoint and Google Drive are the options for file
management, but SharePoint is superior to Google drive. See the
following points to know the reasons.
Companies need a better platform for file and document management
systems. Every file is unique and has some information that is
important for organizations. SharePoint and Google Drive are the two
main document managers for organizations. Both services have
different features and are equally important for different businesses.
Users need to know the difference between both so they can easily
choose one of them for their business growth.
Every day is new for organizations because it sees new features
coming up daily, which affect businesses. Before adopting file
management systems, one should know their features and benefits for
the organization. Such as, if you adopt SharePoint, you need
SharePoint trainings for employees because it is helpful yet not simple
software to understand. As you are investing a lot, choosing the right
one is essential. SharePoint and Google Drive have functionalities and
features, but somehow SharePoint is a better option. Let’s have a look
at why it is so.
A debate between SharePoint and Google Drive
There is always a debate between Google Drive and SharePoint, which
is better. Following are the features of both that make it easier for a
user to access what to choose and why SharePoint is a better platform
for the file management system. Such as:
1.1 Establish Workflow
Workflow is an automated process. Google provides an ease to users
by allowing them to create and edit the document. But only when they
are using Google docs. On the other hand, SharePoint gives out-of-the-
box features which allow users to review and write comments for
feedback on workflow. Employees and users can create and establish
workflow and sites, manage training, collaborate on different topics
and projects, and discuss them as a team. When every employee is up
to date about ongoing projects, information, and tasks, then the
efficiency of the workplace increases. Automation saves your cost, and
the manager can see the schedule of everyone. It ensures everyone is
fulfilling their tasks and goals.
1.2 Storage issues
Every organization has a lot of documents, and they need storage to
place these files and documents. Organizations cannot discard
important files, so they need a safe and secure place with storage. The
main issue with Google Drive is that it only gives you 15 GB of space.
On the other hand, SharePoint gives users storage of 1TB through
office 365. Therefore users can store and manage large files and data.
1.3 Pricing difference
Although Google Drive is less expensive, it stops you from getting
more features. It has fewer prices due to having fewer features as
compared to the features of SharePoint. The price range of it starts
from basic $5 per month up to enterprise $25 depending upon your
needs of features. SharePoint also has different packages according to
the features you want to get. You get charged according to the users
and application being used. You may have to pay extra here, but it will
be worth it as you can access many features. It is a little bit expensive,
but it is worth the price as you will get more access to the features for
you and your whole team.
1.4 More functionalities
One point that makes SharePoint dominant over Google drive is that
SharePoint it exists within an application, and you can get everything
you want with just one click. It’s like a tool in a toolbox; you can access
it with just one click. While in Google drive, you have to find
everything. It has fewer features if comparing SharePoint wins a point
as it has more advanced features.
Choose what suits you.
SharePoint and Google Drive both have their features and
functionalities. All you need to access is your business requirements
and what suits your company the most. According to the points
mentioned earlier, the better platform is SharePoint because it has
better storage, workflow stream, a better collaboration environment,
etc. it is up to users what they choose according to their
needs. Therefore enroll your employees in SharePoint trainings so they
can enjoy working.
