Cardiac arrest is generally caused by an electrical disruption that disturbs the pumping 
action of the heart, stopping blood flow to the rest of the body.

(cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and a defibrillator can save life. If emergency services 
arrive and administer defibrillation, survival rates are as high as 49 percent.
