A trigger point injection (TPI) is a minimally invasive treatment used to help relieve pain and tenderness caused by trigger points, which are sensitive, tight areas within skeletal muscles. These painful areas can contribute to muscle stiffness, localized discomfort, and limited movement. During the procedure, a healthcare professional uses a small needle to inject medication directly into the affected muscle. Depending on the patient's condition, the injection may contain a local anesthetic, such as lidocaine, with or without a corticosteroid. The goal is to reduce pain and muscle tightness, improve movement, and support a broader pain management plan.
