Media Gateway is a conversion device or service which translates media streams in the form of digital data telecommunications for supporting video, audio, fax, and other services between different interfaces with digital technologies. The systems such as POTS, SS7, Next Generation Networks (2G, 2.5G, 3G, 4G radio networks) uses media gateway to transform media streams between different telecommunication technologies. Media gateway triggers multimedia communications for packet networks using transport protocols such ATM and internet protocol.
