INTRODUCTION
• Ram Mandir Bhumi Pujan Ceremony in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh
took place on August 5, 2020.
• PM Narendra Modi and several other personalities were present in
the ceremony.

BACKGROUND
• After the years of dispute the historic event of the Ram Temple in
Ayodhya took place where Babri Mosque was built in 16th century.
• The dispute was over 2.77acre land where it is believed that
mosque was built on the destruction of the ancient temple of Lord
Ram.

ATTENDED THE CEREMONY
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived Ayodhya for Ram Mandir
Bhumi Pujan on August 5, 2020.
• Uma Bharti, was also present during the puja.
• Baba Ramdev also marked his presence and appreciated the efforts
of the government.

ACCEPTANCE
• Apart from Hindu religious leaders, several heads of different
communities were also present in the ceremony.
• This symbolize the unity and acceptance of the Ram Mandir in
Ayodhya.

INVITATION
• Invitation for the Bhumi Pujan was sent to around 175 people amid
the nation’s COVID-19 fight.
• Each invitation of the ceremony has a security code that will work
only once and if the guest exists the venue, they will not be allowed
to come back.

• First invitation was sent to Iqbal Ansari, one of the Muslim litigants
of Ayodhya Ram Mandir case.
• Padma Shri recipient Mohammad Sharif who was honoured for
cremating over 10,000 unclaimed bodies was also invited.

COVID 19 IMPACTS
• The invitees have been finalised only after they RSVP-ed on phone
calls.
• Due to the COVID-19 situation norm of social distancing was
followed strictly.
• Organizers also made personal calls and apologized to many
people for not sending invitation due to COVID 19 situation.

KEY FACES OF RAM MANDIR CAMPAIGN
• Mr. LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were the key faces of the
campaign who attended the ceremony virtually.
• Home Minister Amit Shah, who was tested positive for Corona virus
was unable to attend.

RAM MANDIR BHUMI PUJAN CEREMONY
• According to the General Secretary of Ram Mandir Trust, PM
Narendra Modi arrived for the ceremony at 11.30 am on August 5.
• PM Modi established a 40 kg silver brick opening the way for the
symbolic start of the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

TREE PLANTATION
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a ‘Parijat’ tree in the temple
premises and the inscription of the temple has been inaugurated.
• The ceremony continued till 2 pm on August 5 2020.

FOUR-PHASED RAMARCHAN PUJA
• One day before to Bhumi Pujan ceremony of Ram Temple, the four-
phased Ramarchan puja began to call for the major god and
goddess.
• The prayers began around 10:30am with Vedic saints conducting
the prayers facing Ramlalla on his temporary seat.

• Ayodhya was decked up for the bhumi pujan with display of
hoardings with the picture of the Ram temple.
• The premises of the temple was designed with diyas and lights.
