BATTLE OF PANIPAT
Introduction
The Third Battle of Panipat was a major battle
in the Indian history, fought on 14th January
1761.
It was fought between the Afghan forces
of Ahmad Shah Durrani along against the
Maratha Empire.

After the demise of Mughal Emperor
Aurangzeb, there was an abrupt ascent of the
Marathas.
The Marathas reversed all his territorial gains
in the Deccan and conquered a considerable
part of India.

The decay was rushed by the attack of India
by Nader Shah, who likewise took away Takht-
I-Taus (the Peacock Throne) and the Kohinoor
Diamond in 1739.

Ahmad Shah Durrani intended to assault the
Marathas when his child was driven out of
Lahore.
Before the finish of 1759, Durrani with his
Afghan clans arrived at Lahore and Delhi and
vanquished the adversary armies.

The forces battled at Karnal and Kunjpura
where the whole Afghan battalion was killed.
The slaughter of the Kunjpura battalion
maddened Durrani. So he requested for
crossing the waterway in order to assault the
Marathas.

Fights proceeded through months and powers
from both the sides amassed for the last
attack.
The fight began in the extremely early times
on January 14, 1761.

Since the Afghan powers were bigger in
number, by the end of day 1, majority of the
Maratha powers had fled, been killed or taken
prisoner.
One of different reasons was that the Afghans'
mounted guns was increasingly powerful.

The Marathas' failure to convince the Rajputs,
Jats and Sikhs to battle on their side
demonstrated lethal for the Marathas.
After the triumph, the Afghan mounted force
went out of control through the lanes of
Panipat, murdering a large number of Maratha
troopers and regular people

The women and children were taken in Afghan
camps.
Despite the Third Battle of Panipat changed
the force conditions in India, the Afghans
could scarcely control any further.
