• Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami,
dashain, Dasahara, Dasara.
• This Festival is celebrated at the end of
Navratri and in the month of Ashvin
according to the Hindu calendar.
• Vijayadashami is celebrated for many
reasons in states of India.
Story of Dussehra
• In northern and western states of India
Dussehra is celebrated as victory of god
ram.
• Shri Ram killed Ravana which is known as
victory of Dharma over Adharma.
Mysore Dasara
• Celebration of Dasara include athletic
competitions, military parades, and cultural
performances.
• Celebration include many events, One
event of special durbar at Mysuru place.
• Dasara known as Jumbo Savari.

Kullu Dussehra
• Kullu Dussehra is started by Raja Jagat Singh
in 1637.
• In this festival all deities are assembled at
one place, 200 deities are brought to
participate in Lord Raghunath’s rath yatra.
• Instead of burning Ravana they conduct
burning of Lanka.

Hyderabad’s Bathukamma
• This festival starts from Mahalaya Amavasya
and end on Ashwayuja Ashtami.
• Festival denote end of Varsha ritu and start of
Sharad ritu.
• It is a 7 days festival.
• Bathukamma is named after food, different
type of food offered to the god each day.

Bastar Dussehra
• It is a 75 days festival celebrated in
Chhattisgarh.
• This festival started by Bastar King
Purushottam Dev in 13th century.
• This festival includes many things like pata
jatra, deri gadhai, kalash staphna, kachan
gaadi, nisha jatra, muria durbar and ohadi.

Varanasi Ram Lila
• Varanasi is famous for Ram Lila, Ram Lila is
started by Maharaja of Benaras, Udit Narayan
Singh in 1800.
• Ramnagar fort is the place where Ram Lila
happen, whole fort is transformed into
permanent locations like Ayodhya, Lanka, Ashok
Vatika etc.
• Actors need to move location to location during
performance, Audience also move with them.

Kota Dussehra
• Kota Dussehra includes Fair, costume plays, a plethora of
stalls serving delicious festive food, Fireworks and cultural
performances.
• This festivals is started by Maharaj Durjanshal Singh Hada
in 1723.
• Festivals also includes kavi sammelans, mushairas and
moustache competitions.
