• Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on 2nd October as a
National Festival.
• All Indians celebrate it As a birthday on Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi.
• 2 October is also Celebrated as a International day on
Non-Violence, this announced by United Nations General
Assembly on 15 June 2007.
About Gandhi Ji
• Ghandhi ji was born in small town of Gujarat on 2nd October
1969.
• He Completed his degree in law in U.K and practiced
lawsuit in South Africa.
• He got married to Kasturba at the age of 13.
• He was against the Violence, Smoking, Alcohol and Non-
Veg.
• Ghandhi ji raised his voice against Salt Tax and started
campaign Dandi Salt March in 1930.
• After Dandi March, He Started another campaign Quit India
in 1942.
• He played a Very Important role in achieving independence
for India.
• Britain granted independence in August 1947.
• He died on 30 January 1948 and killed by Nathuram Godse.
Why do We Gandhi
Jayanti?
• As we all know Gandhi ji is the one of the famous
freedom fighter.
• We also know him as “Bapu”, Father of Nation, He
taught us about Principles of Truth, Non-Violence and
Honesty.
• By celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, we are giving him a
Tribute.
• Gandhi is the one, who freed India from British.
How Government
Celebrate Gandhi Jayanti?
• Our Honorable President and Prime minister with other
leaders pays a tribute at Raj Ghat, Which is the Samadhi
of Mahatma Gandhi in new Delhi.
• Prayer Meeting held at Raj Ghat.
• Mahatma Ghandhi ji’s favorite song “Raghupati
Raghava” is sung by all the people.
How People Celebrate
Gandhi Jayanti?
• Colleges, Schools, Local Gov. Institutions and
social- political institutions organize some Events to
celebrate Jayanti.
• Events like painting, essay competitions, Prayer
Meeting and Quiz based on Bapu’s life.
• Everybody sings his favorite song to give him
tribute.
• Public banks, building and Post office are closed on 2nd
October.
• Private companies also celebrate Ghandhi Jayanti by
organizing events like Chart making, Drams, Fancy dress
etc and also give awards.
