 Next year the Indian Premier League 2020 shifts to the UAE. 
 The Emirates Cricket Board has confirmed that it receives a 
letter of intent from the Control Board for Cricket in India 
( BCCI) to host the 13th season of the IPL in the United 
States.

 In India, too, decks are being cleared at ministerial level. The 
sports ministry has accepted BCCI 's proposal to conduct the 
IPL outside India in the UAE. 
 The plan now needs to get the green light from the ministry 
of foreign affairs and home affairs.

 Nevertheless, the Indian board waited until mid-July to see 
whether IPL could be played at home with a closed door. With 
the increase of the COVID-19 caseload, 
 BCCI announced its intention to move the event overseas 
Apex following discussions at its July 17 Apex Council meeting. At 
Meetings this stage the UAE was the top alternative. 
 Yet the BCCI made it clear that 'there is no 2009.' Ahead of 
the general elections, when the IPL was first relocated 
overseas (South Africa) in 2009,
