ISRO gets the biggest ever cryogenic propellant tank from HAL.
                     ISRO GETS THE BIGGEST EVER 
CRYOGENIC PROPELLANT TANK

 India's leading aerospace firm, Hindustan Aeronautics 
Limited, delivered to the Indian Space Research Organization 
(ISRO) the largest cryogenic propellant tank (C32 LH2) ever 
produced by the company, way ahead of the contractual 
schedule.

 The C32-LH2 tank is an aluminium alloy developmental 
cryogenic propellant tank planned to increase the payload 
capability of the launch vehicle GSLV MK-III. 
 The four-meter diameter tank has a range of eight metres to 
load 5,755 kg of propellant at a capacity of 89 cubic metres.

 The cumulative length of welding done in the tank was 115 
metres at various stages according to the quality criterion of 
100% radiographic, die penetrating and leak proof checks.

 HAL said it has mastered the skills and technology needed to 
produce Aluminium Ally welded propellant tanks to satisfy 
such strict consistency specifications.

 The propellant tank was handed over to ISRO Director (LPSC) 
Dr V Narayanan by HAL Director (Operations) M S Velpari in 
the presence of Director (VSSC) S Somanath with other senior 
ISRO scientists, participating in virtual mode and other senior 
HAL officials.

 As one of ISRO's valuable allies on its long journey, HAL's 
contributions to India's space programme has been 
remarkable.
 The capacity of HAL is to accommodate all technical 
innovations and improvements in the production of some kind 
of space hardware and space launch vehicle structures.

 At HAL, numerous new ventures such as PS2/GS2 integration, 
Semi-Cryo structure manufacturing and development of cryo 
and semi-cryo engines are being pursued, for which the 
establishment of necessary infrastructure and facilities is 
nearing completion, it said.

Atmospheric Re-entry Experiment development process, PAD 
Abort test for Crew Escape for Human Space Mission, and is
