 INTRODUCTION
 SpaceX’s full-scale Starship prototype, 
the SN  5, has successfully completed it
s first   150-m "hop“   test.
 This is the first time in a year that a St
arship prototype has flown, after many i
terations.

 DETAILS
 The Starship SN5 vehicle, powered by 
a    single Raptor engine, shortly  before 
8 p.m.
 It was lifted off at SpaceX’s site in Boc
a   Chica, Texas. 
 The flight was intended to reach an      
  altitude of 150 meters.

 WHAT IS STARSHIP?
  SpaceX has designed Starship that is 
a     space craft and super-heavy booste
r rocket meant to act as a reusable tran
sportation   system for crew and cargo t
o the Earth’s    orbit, Moon and Mars. 
 It has depicted Starship as “the world’
s most powerful launch vehicle” with an 
ability to carry over 100 metric tonnes t
o the Earth’s orbit.

 IDEA BEHIND DEVELOPING SPACECRAFT
 Starship has been under development  
   since 2012 and is a part of Space X’s 
central mission.
 The company is working on building     
  reusable launch vehicles, capable of     
     carrying humans to Mars and other s
olar    system.

cket   is going to burn up and a majority

 Starship can deliver satellites further a
nd  at lower marginal costs.
 Starship is expected to help carry larg
e amounts of cargo to the Moon.
 The spacecraft is being designed for c
arrying crew and cargo for interplanetar
y missions as well.

 The SN5 is the second Starship prototy
pe to get off the ground, and the first to 
do so in nearly a year. 
 Before SN5 Starhopper took a few brie
f    flights in the summer of 2019.

SPACEX DESIGNS FOR THE STARSHIP SERIES
 SpaceX has already created another     
   prototype to test out, numbered SN6, 
and will likely fly that one during the ne
xt test    flight. 
 SN7 is under construction as well.
