Introduction
Union Minister of Human Resource Development,
Ramesh Pokhriyal on 23rd June, launched an initiative
YUKTI 2.0, to help systematically all technologies
having commercial potential and information related to
incubated startups in our higher educational
institutions.
What is YUKTI 2.0?
YUKTI 2.0 is an extension of ‘YUKTI (Young India
combating Covid with Knowledge, Technology and
Innovation) Portal’ which was meant to identify
ideas relevant in Covid pandemic earlier.

Creation of Database
The Ministry has invited students, faculty members,
startups and other stakeholders of higher education
institutions to register on the YUKTI portal and
share their technologies and innovations.

Importance
Database shared will be showcased to the investor
community which includes businessmen, farmers and
industrialists where students will be able to sell their
ideas.
However, preliminary innovations won’t be
showcased on YUKTI 2.0 but only those which have
commercialization potential would be showcased.

It will provide a clear picture of the state of the
innovation ecosystem of our higher educational
institutions.
It will help the government to identify the challenges
and provide appropriate policies to strengthen the
innovation ecosystem in the country.

How it supports Innovation?
Institutions of Eminence (IoE) Scheme is a government's
scheme to provide the regulatory architecture for setting up
or upgrading of 20 Institutions (10 public sector and 10
private sector) as world-class teaching and research
institutions.
How the innovations are supported?
Several amendments are made in the Prime Minister’s
Research Fellowship Scheme to boost research.
Through the Atal Innovation Mission, the government has
established Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) in schools
throughout the nation.
YUKTI 1.0
Earlier, the Minister had launched the YUKTI (Young
India combating COVID with Knowledge, Technology
and Innovation) web portal on 11 April, 2020. Ministry
of HRD prepared the portal in view of coronavirus.
The portal intends to cover the different dimensions of
COVID-19 challenges in a very holistic and
comprehensive way.

1.0 to 2.0
While addressing the participants Pokhriyal said that
YUKTI 2.0 is logical extension of earlier version of
'YUKTI', an initiative of MHRD, to identify ideas relevant
in COVID pandemic, especially from higher educated
students.
He also informed that all the outcomes of earlier version
of 'YUKTI’ would be released soon.

Benefits to the students
More importantly, initiative like YUKTI 2.0 will surely help
the students who are getting bored in their homes now in
pandemic, fostering the culture of innovation and
entrepreneurship in the academic institutions in India.
