 If you are looking to purchase a pool table, one of the important things that you 
need to think about is the pool table room size. The first thing that you should 
consider when thinking about creating a room for your pool table is the space. 
Different sized pool tables may need different room sizes.

 During your search for the right pool table for your needs, you will come across 
what is referred to as regulation size pool tables.  This simply refers to a 4/12 
foot by 9 foot pool tale.  This table requires a much larger pool table room size 
compare to a 7 foot table. Standard two piece cues measure 58 inches in length. 
The room size needed then is the length of the pool table plus two times the 
length of the cue and the width of the table plus two times the length of the cue.

 Say for instance you have a room with the available areas measuring 16 feet 8 
inches by 14 feet, or 200 inches long by 168 inches wide.  If the length of the 
cue is 58 inches for each  side of the table, or  116 inches, so the room length, 
200 inches less 116 cue inches equals 84 inches for allowed length of the table. 
The room width at 168 inches minus two times the cue length, 116 inches, 
equals 52 inches allowed for the width of the table.

 In the example above, your space can accommodate a pool table that measures 
84 inches long and 52 inches wide. Standard pool table sizes are seven foot, 
eight foot, 8 and a half foot, and 9 foot long.  In this case, your space would best 
accommodate a 7 foot table.
