Structural Glazing
WHAT IS STRUCTURAL GLAZING
Simply put, structural glazing is a term used to describe glass
that is essential to building design which includes large glass
panels that add weight to the structure. Structural glazing
allows you to create huge glass installations with minimal
obstacles. Structural glazings can withstand weight both
horizontally and vertically, using everything from minimal
glass beams and supports to sturdy steel stanchions that can
be glued.
TYPES OF STRUCTURAL GLAZING
Unitized
Curtain Wall
Finished prefabricated panels are
delivered to the site and mounted
on the facade of the building
using fasteners and brackets.
Semi Unitized
Partially completed at the factory,
delivered to the site and installed
on the facade of the building with
fasteners and brackets, requiring
considerable work at the site.
Stick Glazing
All of the assembling work is done
on-site and the frame is processed
at the factory and shipped to the
site in a disassembled state. The
glass plate is attached to the
frame with a pressure plate and
gasket.
Frameless
system
It provides a highly transparent
façade with few frames and
structural elements. It is used in
large spaces, airports, lobbies,
etc. Large panels are used to
minimize visual confusion.
