A Typical Day on a Kenya Camping Safari
The premier African safari destination of Kenya is known for its rich wildlife, culture and excellent
birding destination. Have you ever wondered what a normal day on a safari in Kenya entails? We have
a description of how a day might go in Kenya, but keep in mind that the various lodging alternatives
and the changing seasons make it difficult to pin down every moment of the day. Kenya Safari Lodges
and camps frequently have your entire day scheduled for you. They have everything covered, from a cup
of freshly prepared tea or coffee to the best places to see animals. There is ample opportunity to rest
and take part in activities particular to each camp.
Early Morning: Before 8 am
When you go on a Camping Safari in Kenya, you’ll either awaken before the sun rises or before it does
to see the magnificent sunrise and the surrounding natural beauty. When you get up, you start your day
with a cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee. To get the most out of your day, you should get an early start
with morning game drives. At this time of day, big cats are especially active, and the weather is cooler,
making it easier to go on a game drive and spot wildlife. Photographers can also capture Kenya’s
wildlife and the surrounding vistas in perfect lighting in the early morning. Although the guides usually
have a good strategy for the game drives, you should still let them know if you have any special
interests before the drive. The guide will lead you on a game drive in areas where wildlife sightings are
common. On a game drive, every minute counts toward building enduring memories. After a few
unforgettable hours spent exploring Kenya’s game reserves and national parks, you’ll return to the
camp to relax and recover.
Mid Morning: Between 8 am to 11 am
The early morning game drives on a Kenya Adventure Camping Safari takes around 2-3 hours after
which you return to camp for breakfast or brunch. Enjoy the delectable food that has been made just
for you. After brunch or breakfast, visitors are free to roam the safari lodge. Most safari lodges have
cozy common areas where you can unwind, converse with other safari travelers, and enjoy the view of
the Kenyan countryside and wildlife. The remainder of the morning can be spent relaxing or taking
part in one of the camp’s activities. Kenya Camping Safari offers wildlife viewing activity whereas the
adventure camping safaris offer fishing and trekking as well as cultural excursions! While some safari
camps & lodges feature a spa where you can treat yourself to a relaxing massage, others have a small
library with a selection of novels that you can curl up with on a comfortable couch or in a hammock. Or
perhaps you’d prefer to cool down in a fancy swimming pool like the infinity pool seen in Kenya’s
opulent tented safari camps & lodges.
Early Afternoon: 1 pm to 3 pm
If you haven’t had a big brunch, this is the time you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch. You might have it on an
outside deck overlooking a waterhole, under a canopy of trees with views of the bush or inside a cosy
dining room – camps and lodges often have a variety of places where meals are set up. You’ll have
plenty of time after lunch to relax, catch up on sleep, read a book, or chill off in the pool.
Late Afternoon: 4 pm to 5 pm
After the afternoon heat, the temperature starts cooling down around 4 pm to 5 pm and it’s time to
head out on an afternoon game drive. The diurnal species prefer these temperatures and venture out of
their homes to frolic, feed, and quench their thirst. It is also an ideal time to see the wildlife as it
emerges from the shade.
Evening: 5 pm to 7 pm
In Kenya, a stunning sunset is virtually always waiting for you at the end of a game drive. Frequently,
you’ll be offered a sundowner drink, which you may sip while taking in the breathtaking safari
experience of the setting sun, before returning to your lodging before it becomes dark. The
temperatures cool down in the evening, particularly during the winter months, so remember to dress in
layers that you can put on as the temperature drops. Some camps arrange a unique bush dinner & offer
a spectacular dining experience, accompanied by the views of elephants returning home and big cats
on the scent of their prey.
Evening After 7 pm
When you go back to your tent, you take a shower, go to the main area for pre-dinner beverages, and
mingle with other visitors before indulging in a delectable supper. After dinner, guests often gather
around a campfire, with a night camp, exchanging stories and learning about Kenyan culture. For
something different, some safari lodges provide sleeping arrangements that allow visitors to sleep
under the stars.
If you’re staying at your safari camp for another night, the next day will follow a similar schedule. You’ll
be taken to new wildlife viewing spots or spend time exploring other activities offered by the camp.
