PMP Certification Eligibility Criteria
SET A -
1. 4 year degree -
The candidate is required to have a 4 year degree from a reputed college or university. The college or
university should be very prestigious and should be well-respected by the international ranking
agencies of the world. The college or university should also have all the facilities which a high-class
institution is required to have to hold that distinction.
The candidate must not have any black marks on his record and he must be very meritorious. That is,
he should have a stellar academic record during his enrollment as a student at that college or university
and he should not have indulged in any kind of criminal activity whatsoever. His conduct must be
excellent.
He must have completed the 4 year program without any black marks on his academic record or any
problems arising from conflict with the teachers or other students. His teachers should all be very
happy with him and should give very positive feedback about him. PMP certification training cannot
help a candidate with this.
2. 36 months leading projects -
The candidate must have spent at least 36 months or 3 years in leading projects. By leading projects we
mean that the candidate must have been a part of multiple projects in the capacity of a project manager
for 3 years. He must have performed the functions of leading, directing, and managing multiple
projects for a time period spanning at least 3 years or more.
The PMI has a very strict classification for which projects it counts as valid. It only counts projects
which have been completely successful as valid and it only counts projects which have a large-scale as
valid. It does not count projects which were small scale, or which were dismal failures. Thus, the
project manager should take care to only include projects of the first kind in his application. PMP
certification cannot help a candidate with this.
3. 35 hours of training of project management or a CAPM certification -
The candidate is required to possess 35 hours of contact training in project management. This is a strict
and hard-set requirement set into place by the PMI. PMP certification training will help with fulfilling
this requirement.
