Melbourne has been dubbed the world’s most liveable city four times and two
years running in 2012 and 2013. From high end eateries to street art in
Melbourne’s hidden laneways to major sporting events, the City of Melbourne is
bustling with cultural experiences that have earned it a reputation for being the

The city hosts a wide variety of local, national and international cultural events.
Cultural precincts in the central business district (CBD) include the Victorian Arts
Precinct, with its distinctive spire, and Federation Square, one of the city’s main
cultural hubs and tourist centres that celebrated its ten-year anniversary in
2012. Federation Square’s distinctive architecture, large digital screen and public

The capital of Victoria, Melbourne is home to over 4 million people. Melbourne’s
