Android Phone: Different Methods
Need to sign in to iCloud Mail, Calendar, or Contacts on Android? Here’s how to 
sync your iCloud account with an Android phone.  iCloud is a great way to sync 
your email, contacts, calendar, tasks, and photos across your Apple devices. 
What if you decide to switch from iPhone to an Android phone?
Apple doesn’t always play well with other ecosystems, but you can use iCloud on 
Android with the right apps.
Switching from iPhone to Android is Easier Than You Think
If you’re hesitant to switch from iPhone to Android, it’s totally understandable. 
After all, they are completely different platforms, with zero cross-compatibility. 
Most of iCloud is actually available on Android through your web browser. You’re 
probably using Chrome, but any current browser should work for this. Simply go to 
www.icloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
Here, you’ll be able to access simplified versions of Apple Mail, Reminders, 
Notes, and Pages and Numbers. This basic level of functionality is especially 
useful if you’re jumping between iPhone and Android (probably because you 
have one for home and one for work). But if that doesn’t work for you, thanks to 
a variety of apps and services, you can access iCloud from Android without using 
a browser. It allows you:

• View Apple Notes

How to Access iCloud Email on 
Android
Want to know how to get iCloud email on Android? Every Android device comes 
with a Gmail app, and you can configure it to access your iCloud email account. 
(Other email apps will also let you receive iCloud email on Android.)
Start by generating an app password for your iCloud email:
1. Go to the Apple ID page and sign in
2. On the Manage page, find Login & security
3. Click on App-Specific Password, then Generate App-Specific Password
4. You will be prompted to enter the details for the password, then click 
on Create
5. Write down the password because you’ll need it in a jiffy
Then on your Android phone:
• Open Gmail and tap on your email profile icon (usually a profile picture or company logo)
• Scroll down to add another account
• Select Other then enter your iCloud email address and tap Next
• Add the password you just created, then Next
Gmail will do the rest. A few moments later, you’ll see your iCloud email account 
in the Gmail app. You can now view iCloud email on Android, as well as reply to all 
messages.
1- Sync iCloud Contacts to Android
Syncing your contacts between iCloud and Android is relatively simple.
• Open the iCloud website in your browser and click Contacts.
• Click the gear button
• Select all your contacts (or a specific group by holding CTRL 
while left-clicking)
• Click the gear button again and choose Export vCard
• save the file to your computer
• In your computer’s browser, open contacts.google.com and sign in with 
the Google Account you use for your Android phone
• On the left, click Import and navigate to the vCard file
• Click on Import and the contacts will be added and start syncing with 
your device
If you don’t use Google Contacts (for example, you use the Samsung option), copy 
the vCard file to your Android phone or tablet (perhaps using a USB cable or Cloud 
Sync), then copy it to your Android phone or tablet. Import into Contacts app.
2- View iCloud Calendar on Android
You can publish content from your iCloud Calendar to Google Calendar, but note 
that this is a one-way sync. Any changes made to Google Calendar will not be 
reflected in iCloud. However, if you switch to Android completely then this 
shouldn’t be a problem.
Also note that the two systems are not fully compatible, so Google Calendar will 
not display all the information stored by iCloud.
• Begin by opening the iCloud website in your browser
• Choose calendar
• Where calendar names are listed on the left, click the Wi-Fi style icon
• In the sharing area, check Public Calendar and copy the link to your clipboard
• Open Google Calendar in your browser (calendar.google.com)
• On the left, find Other calendars and click the + sign
• select from URL
• Paste the Calendar Link from Your iCloud Calendar
• Optional: If someone else wants to see the calendar, check to Make the 
calendar publicly available
• When you are done, click Add Calendar
Your iCloud calendar should now appear in your phone’s Calendar app, but give it 
up to 24 hours for it to sync completely.
3- View Apple Notes on Android
Before continuing, keep in mind that it is possible to access the Notes app in your 
browser through the iCloud website. While it’s not perfect, it is a useful alternative.
Syncing your notes on your Android device is easy with Apple’s useful Notes app, 
though it does come with some limitations.
• On your iPhone, open Settings > Passwords & accounts
• Click Add Account to add your Google Account
• Authenticate your account, then return to the Password & Accounts screen
• Select Google Account and tap the Notes slider
• In the Notes app, find the Gmail header
• All notes under this header will be synced with the Gmail app, so move notes 
around if necessary
• In Android, open Gmail and find the Notes label on the left
• Your Apple Notes should be synced here
It’s not the easiest way to get things done, but it can transfer your notes to 
Android quickly. Of course, you can’t edit the notes, as they now appear as 
emails. You also can’t sync them using this method.
Of course, you can always switch to another note-taking app and make your 
notes available to read and edit anywhere, on any device.
4- View iCloud Photos on Android
Although there is no iCloud app for Android, all the photos you take on your old 
iPhone can be accessed on Android through the iCloud website.
As before, just open the sites in your favorite Android browser and view them in 
the web app. Here you can view and download photos.
• In Photos view, tap Select
• Now Select All. tap on
• Tap on the three-dot button
• Choose download
The pictures from your iCloud will then be downloaded to your Android device as a 
compressed ZIP file. You have to unzip it to see them on your phone.
5- View Apple Reminders on 
Android
Accessing iPhone-based reminders on Android isn’t as intuitive as some of the 
other options. One option is to use third-party sync apps, but these can be both 
expensive and unreliable. Your best option is to access the Reminders app on the 
iCloud website through your phone’s browser.
While it won’t send notifications from iPhone to Android, you’ll be able to check 
reminders and even copy them to the Google Calendar app.
6- Apple Music for Android
Don’t want to lose your Apple Music when you switch to Android? Don’t worry, you 
won’t. The Apple Music app, available on Android phones, gives you all of your 
playlists and purchased music.

To use it, launch the app, enter your Apple ID to sign in to Android, and the tunes 
will be ready to play.
7- Signing in to Apple iCloud on Android is 
Simple
It may take some time to get set up to sync iCloud and your Android device. But it’s 
worth it if you have email, contacts, calendars, and other data that you want to 
sync across your different devices. These aren’t your only options for accessing 
iCloud on non-Apple devices.
