know how to fix onedrive not
running.
If the OneDrive app not opening in Windows 10, you can fix it very easily.
Follow these steps to fix OneDrive not starting on Windows 10. OneDrive is
one of the most popular cloud services. Since the OneDrive app is built into
Windows 10, most Windows users rely on it to back up and share files. In
fact, I myself use OneDrive on a daily basis to sync work and project files
between devices. Since OneDrive is part of my workflow, it is important for
me to have the OneDrive app working properly in Windows 10. Simply put,
having a working OneDrive app is very important for syncing files.
That being said, recently I encountered a strange problem where OneDrive
would not start. That is, when I try to open OneDrive from the Start menu,
the OneDrive folder opens but the OneDrive app doesn’t start or run. As
such, I am unable to sync files to the cloud. Luckily, it’s very easy to fix the
OneDrive startup problem.
Follow the below-mentioned methods and steps to quickly fix the problem in
Windows 10.

How to Fix OneDrive not Opening in Windows 10
Follow the below steps/methods one by one to fix OneDrive not Opening on
Windows 10.
1. Restart Windows 10 PC
I know it sounds very basic, but trust me restarting the system will fix a wide
variety of problems. If an app or process is preventing OneDrive from
opening, restarting will unlock it and resolve the issue. So close all programs
and restart Windows 10. After restarting, try to launch OneDrive. If the app
should launch, that’s good and you have successfully resolved the issue.
Otherwise, follow the next steps.
2. Make sure OneDrive is not disabled in Group Policy
If Group Policy called “Prevent the use of OneDrive for file storage” is
enabled, it will prevent OneDrive from opening. Therefore, setting the policy
to “Not Configured” or “Disabled” will remove the restriction and allow you to
use the OneDrive app.
• Open the Run window. You can do this by pressing the “Win + R”
shortcut.
• Type “gpedit.msc” and click “OK.”
• After opening the Group Policy Editor, navigate to the “Computer
Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components →
OneDrive” folder.
• Double-click the “Prevent the use of OneDrive for file storage” policy.
• Select the “Not Configured” or “Disabled” option.
• Click the “Apply” and “Ok” buttons.
• Close Group Policy Editor.
• Restart Windows 10.
• After restarting, try to launch OneDrive. If Group Policy is the culprit, the
OneDrive app will open normally.
3.Make sure OneDrive is not disabled in Registry Editor
If there is a value named “DisableFileSyncNGSC” in Windows Registry
Editor, this will prevent you from opening or using the OneDrive app. So you
should either modify its value data or delete it. Here are the steps to follow.
• Open Start Menu.
• Type “registry editor” and press “Enter.”
• Now paste the below path into Registry Editor address bar and press
enter
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\OneDriv
e
• Double-click the “DisableFileSyncNGSC” value. You will find it on the
right panel.
• Type “0” in the Value data field.
• Click “OK” to display the Value data field.
• Close Registry Editor.
• Restart Windows.
Note: If you cannot find the value “DisableFileSyncNGSC”, no change is
necessary.
After restarting, try to launch OneDrive. If a registry value is a culprit, the
OneDrive app will open normally.
4. Reinstall OneDrive
Although OneDrive is built into Windows 10 and still you can uninstall it like
any other app. If OneDrive doesn’t open, uninstalling and reinstalling the app
should fix the problem, no matter what. Before uninstalling OneDrive, be
sure to back up all files that haven’t synced to the OneDrive cloud yet.
You can uninstall the OneDrive application from the “Control Panel →
Programs and Features” page or from the “Settings → Applications →
Applications and features” page. After uninstalling OneDrive, follow the
instructions on the linked page to reinstall OneDrive.
That’s all. It’s as easy as “Fix OneDrive won’t open” in Windows 10. If you
get stuck or need help, comment below and I’ll try to help as much as I can.
Thanks!
