Five effective ways to
prevent dry throat
Stay Hydrated!
Your body and your salivary glands require supple water and hydration
in order to keep the mouth hydrated and prevent it from getting dry.
Dehydration in the body can not only cause severe health problems,
but it also causes lack of saliva production often resulting in dry throat.
The best way to avoid a sore throat and cough is to keep drinking
enough water in intervals.
Take required medicines during cold
Cold is one of the main reasons for having a sore throat, dry cough and
other throat issues. This is however, extremely common and fades
away within a matter of ten days if taken proper care. There is a huge
range of sore throat medicine available in the market. You can consult
a doctor, or research to buy any for instant relief. You can also gargle
your mouth with warm water and salt to feel better.
Keep your nasal passage clear
A blocked nose often leads to other health problems and especially a
dry throat. This is because when the nose is blocked, the drip that runs
through the throat is not able to get enough air and thus, it becomes
dry. Instead of having to take a sore throat medicine later on, it is
always better to clear your nasal passage and blow your nose regularly.
Consult a doctor for strep throat
Strep throat is caused by a bacterial infection. This may often lead to
severe symptoms like tonsils, white patches, swollen nodes, rashes and
mild symptoms like fever, vomiting, dry throat and throat pain. In this
case, it is important to consult a doctor and get on a sore throat
medicine and antibiotics that help kill the bacteria.
Sleep mindfully
Sleeping with the mouth open or sleeping in a state where your
nose/mouth is facing the pillow can lead to nasal congestion. This
means that your throat is often in contact with dust and other particles
which lead to it becoming dry. For preventative measures, you can
wear nasal strips or even try sleeping a bit more consciously so as to
avoid mouth breathing.
