The Periyar University Distance Education established the directorate 
of Periyar University Centre for Online and Distance Education 
(PUCODE). The Periyar Institue of Distance Education (PRIDE) starts working 
in 2001-02. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, 
science, commerce, and management.
Periyar University received  12(B) and 2(f) status by UGC-DEB, New 
Delhi. It has also been reaccredited with the Grade “A++” certificate 
by NAAC in 2021. Besides, the NIRF (National Institute of Ranking 
Framework) rank of the university is 73rd and the Atal Ranking of Institutions 
on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) is 10th.
The University is a state university located in the Salem district of Tamil 
Nadu. It has been named after the Great Social Reformer E.V. Ramasamy, also 
called “Thanthai Periyar”. The logo of the university describes “Arival 
Vilayum Ulagu” (Wisdom Make the World). Whereas the primary 
objective of the university is to develop “The Holistic Approach of the 
Students”.

Admission Process for Periyar University 
Distance education
Admission to the university is done online. For admission follow the following 
instructions:
1.Go through the official website http://pride.periyaruniversity.ac.in and log on to 
the online admission portal.
2.Select the course and recheck the eligibility criteria for that course.
3.Now, fill in the detailed admission form.
4.Up load the passport-size photograph(300*400 px) in scanned form with the required 
documents in JPG/PDF/PNG format.
5.The application form will be reviewed by the PRIDE office for verification.
6.The candidates are required to pay fees through the Canara Bank Challan or online 
payment.
7.Candidates are required to take the print of the filled application form along with the 
fees receipt and send it to The Director, PRIDE, Periyar University, Salem-11 before the 
closing date.
Note: students are required to pay fees within two days after the approval of 
admission by the university.

Examination
The exams are conducted in the month of May and December. Students need to pay 
examination fees by logging in to the official website. The fees structure is as follows
