                     HOW TO CHOOSE COLORS 
IN WEB DESIGN?
Choose a dominant color
• You will have to choose one dominant color, which will the 
color of your brand and has to be strategically chosen.
The right color scheme
• Once you are done choosing the colour of your brand’s 
logo, you will have to choose a right scheme of colors, 
since a large amount of customers are affected by the 
colors they seen on a website/
Color and emotion
• Color affects most people on an emotional level. Red 
symbolizes energy and indicates urgency. Yellow stands 
for youth and optimism. Blue indicates trust and security 
and so on.
Gender based colors
• Some companies cater to only a specific gender. In such 
cases, it is important to know that men and women prefer 
a set of colours and dislike some colors, which must be 
kept in mind.
Tints and shades
• When you have a color scheme in your mind, you can 
choose different tones and shades of the colour, with 
editing and adjustments to see which combination is more 
effective.
Contrast effects
• Color contrast is another important design element you 
can work on, where you can use contrasting colors for 
background and button, which is quite helpful.
The 60-30-10 rule
• This is a rule created for perfect harmony among colours, 
where you have to choose 60% of dominant colour, 30% 
of secondary colour and 10% of accent colour.
Choose a set of colours
• Now, you have to choose a set of colours which will 
complement your business. You can use the color wheel 
for more understanding.
Use tools for testing
• You can use tools like Colorspire to test different colour
