Cupping therapy
Originated in China, Cupping is an
alternative medicinal therapy which
involves placing cups on the skin to
create suction.
How it works?
The suction created by the cups help
in healing through blood flow. It
increases blood circulation and
reduces muscle tension at the place
where the cup is placed.

The Chinese believe that cupping
leads to flow of ‘Qi’, which means life

helps to balance negatives and

Types of cupping
Cupping is of two types; dry and wet.
In dry cupping, there will only be
suction, whereas in wet cupping,
suction will be accompanied by
controlled medicinal bleeding.

Treatment
The cupping treatment involves
placing a cup on the skin which is
heated or suctioned, the air inside the
cup gets cooled that draws skin and
muscle into the cup, causing redness

Cupping is sometimes prescribed along
with acupuncture, which is another good
method of alternative therapy. You may be
asked to fast or have light meals for 2-3
