Importance of Ozone Layer
Importance of Ozone Layer
What is Ozone Layer?
Ozone layer, also known as
ozonosphere, region from the
upper atmosphere, between 15
and 35 km (9 and 22 miles) above
Earth’s surface, that contains
relatively high concentrations of
ozone molecules(O3). 90 % from
the atmosphere’s ozone happens
in the stratosphere, the location
extending from 1018 km (611
miles) to 50 km (about 30 miles)
above Earth’s surface.

Within the stratosphere the temperature from
the atmosphere increases with growing
height, a phenomenon produced through the
absorption of solar radiation through the
ozone layer. The ozone layer effectively
blocks all solar radiation of wavelengths
under 290 nanometres from reaching Earth’s
surface, including certain kinds of ultraviolet
(Ultra violet) radiations.
Importance of Ozone Layer
Protection of earth from harmful radiation :
The ozone layer is essential for that safety and
health of existence on the planet since it
protects us from dangerous ultraviolet (Ultra
violet) radiation. Ultra violet light is really a
group of the spectrum of sunshine. We can't
see Ultra violet sun rays, they're very intense,
may cause burning, and also over time can
damage the skin which can lead to cancer.
Protects from UV Rays
The ozone layer protects us from 97% from the
dangerous results of Ultra violet sun rays.
Consider a period when you or somebody spent
a lot of time out under the sun and also got a
sunburn. Now consider the truth that individuals
burns are simply 3% of the they could have been
if there wasn't any ozone layer to remove the
majority of the Ultra violet sun rays.
Reduces Temperature
Among the strangest reasons for Ultra violet radiation
is “it burns the skin even though you may not feel
hot.” If there's direct contact involving the skin and
sunlight, you may be burned by Ultra violet sun rays.
For this reason we want the ozone layer. Without
them, we couldn’t go outdoors without special suits
even on cloudy days. For this reason it's so essential
that we safeguard our precious ozone layer.
Polar Ice Shifting and Ozone layer
You might have heard that the an hole within the
ozone layer had once created within the atmosphere.
Within the 1980s, because of manufacturing processes
and residential utilization of CFCs, an opening within
the ozone layer covering millions of square miles above
Antarctica had created. For a long time, ozone
depletion was regarded as probably the most critical
ecological issue.
