Civil Disobedient Movement
• The observance of the Independence Day in 1930 was
followed by the launching of the Civil Disobedience Movement
under the leadership of Gandhi. It began with the famous
Dandi March of Gandhi.
• On 12 March 1930, Gandhi left the Sabarmati Ashram at
Ahmadabad on foot with 78 other members of the Ashram for
Dandi, a village on the western sea-coast of India.

Chauri Chaura Incident
• On 2 February 1922, Non-cooperation Movement was led by a
retired Army soldier Bhagwan Ahir against high food prices
and liquor sale.
• The protestors were beaten by the local police and several
leaders were imprisoned at the Chauri Chaura police station.

Non-cooperation Movement
• Noncooperation movement, unsuccessful attempt in 1920–22,
organized by Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi, to induce the
British government of India to grant self-government, or
swaraj, to India.

Khilafat Movement
• Khilafat movement, pan-Islamic force in India that arose in
1919 to salvage the Ottoman caliph as a symbol of unity
among the Muslim community in India during the British raj.

Quit India Movement
• In August 1942, Gandhiji started the 'Quit India Movement' and
decided to launch a mass civil disobedience movement 'Do or
Die' call to force the British to leave India.

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
• Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, incident on April 13, 1919, in
which British troops fired on a large crowd of unarmed Indians
in an open space known as the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar in
the Punjab region of India, killing several hundred people and
wounding many hundreds more.

The Swaraj Party
• The Swaraj Party was established as the Congress-Khilafat
Swaraj Party.
• It was a political party formed in India on 1 January 1923
after the Gaya annual conference in December 1922 of the
National Congress, that sought greater self-government and
political freedom for the Indian people from the British Raj.

• Simon Commission, group appointed in November 1927 by the
British Conservative government under Stanley Baldwin to
report on the working of the Indian constitution established

Poona Pact
• The Poona Pact was an agreement between Mahatma Gandhi
and Dr. Ambedkar on behalf of depressed classes and upper
caste Hindu leaders on the reservation of electoral seats for
the depressed classes in the legislature of British India
government in 1930.

The Cripps Mission
• The Cripps Mission was a failed attempt in late March 1942 by
the Indian government to secure full Indian cooperation and
support for their efforts in World War II.
• The mission was headed by a senior minister Sir Stafford
Cripps.

Cabinet Mission
• On 22nd January 1946, the decision to send Cabinet Mission
was taken and on 19th February 1946, the British PM C.R
Attlee Government announced in the House of Lords about
the mission and the plan to quit India.
