PPT on Li-Fi Technology.
Li-Fi Technology.
Li-Fi Technology Li-Fi • Li-Fi is wireless communication technology which utilizes light to transmit data and position between devices. The term was first introduced by Harald Haas during a 2011 TEDGlobal talk in Edinburgh. In simpler terms, Li-Fi is considered to be as a light-based Wi-Fi which uses light instead of radio waves to transmit information. Imagine a world where you can connect to high-speed internet by just flicking on your light switch Source: Google Images How it works? • It is a system transmitting wireless internet communications at very high speeds. The technology makes a LED light bulb emit pulses of light that are undetectable to the human eye and within those emitted pulses, data can travel to and from receivers. This is conceptually similar to decoding Morse code but in a much faster rate – millions times a second. LiFi transmission speeds can go over 100 Gbps, 14 times faster than world’s fastest Wi-Fi. Li-Fi is probably not the replacement of Wi-Fi technology anytime soon. Source: Google Images Companion for Wi-Fi • Instead, it is an incredible companion for it. By positioning Li-Fi as a complementary technology to Wi-Fi, this promising technology will take wireless connectivity to new heights. Eventually, Wi-Fi will not be able to keep up with the demand of data Source: Google Images When will it be launched? • It has been predicted that LiFi would be released to the general public in early 2022. Large mobile companies, such as Apple, are also starting to suggest that their future devices will be LiFi capable. LiFi is considered to be future of the internet Source: Google Images
