Motorsports in India
• Motorsport is a popular form of sport in India. Formula
One in particular has taken off in the country in the 2000s,
with two Indian drivers competing and the first ever
Formula One Indian Grand Prix took place in 2011, at the
newly built Buddh International Circuit.

Official governing body
• The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India is the
official governing body of motorsport in the country.
India also compete in the Moto GP, Moto 3 class with
Mahindra Racing. Mahindra is based in Switzerland but
holds an Indian license.

First Indian driver
• Narain Karthikeyan became India's first Formula One
racing driver. In March 2007, he also became the first
ever Indian-born driver to compete in a NASCAR Series.
He debuted in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
in the Kroger 250.

Force India F1
• Force India F1 is a Formula One motor racing team. The
team was formed in October 2007, when a consortium
led by Indian businessmen Vijay Mallya and Michiel Mol
bought the Spyker F1 team for € 88 million.

Mahindra Racing
• Mahindra Racing is the only Indian team to compete in
the FIA Formula E Championship, the world's first all-
electric street racing series. Mahindra Racing has an
impressive stats sheet and is a multi-race winning outfit
after scoring its breakthrough victory at the Berlin E-Prix
in 2017.

• India has often been among the list of illustrious hosting
nations for a few major international racing competitions.

Indian Grand Prix
• New Delhi hosted the first Indian Grand Prix in 2011 at
Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, 50 km from
New Delhi. The inaugural race was won by Germany's
Sebastian Vettel. Jaypee Sports International Limited is the
organizer of Formula One racing in India.

India
• The FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) has
been held in India multiple times. The 2016 edition
was held in Chikmagalur, Karnataka

Asia Road Racing
Championship
• The FIM-backed Asia Road Racing Championship is a
premier two-wheel racing series which was first held in
India at Chennai’s Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT)
during the 2009 season, and again for two more seasons.
