His story
• He has over 80 films to his credit and a television career that
did not quite go well for him, but to the world, he is a star. Irrfan
is an actor who can truly be called one who is par excellence,
for he is an actor who looks for so many things, more than just

A simple man
• Even though he never called himself a hero, or yearned for
special treatment of any kind, he earned it for himself. Most of
us haven't known who he is as a person or even seen him
enough beyond the screens, and yet, there is this strange
connection that feels so strong, and now, when he's gone, it
pains a little more than it should.
Career
• Khan made his film debut with a small role in Salaam Bombay
in 1988, which was followed by years of struggle. After starring
in the British film the Warrior he had his breakthrough with
starring roles in the dramas Haasil and Maqbool. His best
movies were the Namesake, Life in a Metro and Paan Singh
Tomar for which he won the National Film Award for Best
Actor.

Loved by Hollywood
• His first big break was in British Indian filmmaker Asif
Kapadia's film The Warrior. The Bafta-winning film was
presented in cinemas with an endorsement from late filmmaker
Anthony Minghella. From a struggling television actor in India,
he went on to become the most successful Indian actor to
perform in a Hollywood film.

found an outlet on social media. Twitter has been deluged by

Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor.

Google pays tribute
• Remembering the acting stalwart, Google India paid a
remarkable tribute on Twitter, “A karwaan of magical
performances left behind. To the man whose range made us
feel a range of emotions all at once.”
Goodbye
• His loss has created this vacuum in our hearts, and in the
industry, which no one can fill. Here's celebrating Irrfan Khan,
his work and everything else that he brought on the table with
that happy voice and all the humour. He will be remembered
fondly, and his stories will always serve the greater purpose
that he longed for them to always do.
